Today we put the spotlight on one of our former students, to find out where they've been and what they've done since their time at ARROJO. Over to you, Justin...
How did you become interested in the beauty industry?!
I became interested in fashion and design around the time I was in middle school by watching music videos and collecting many fashion books and magazines. The way that a few of my favorite celebrities like Linda Evangelista and Madonna were constantly transforming their appearance through their hair and look intrigued me and I wanted to somehow be a part of that.
Why did you choose ARROJO Cosmetology School?!
I had issues getting my license to transfer when I moved to New York from Washington State. After I decided that I had to go back to school to get my license in New York I thought if I am going to do this a second time I wanted a different educational experience. Upon research, I found out that Nick Arrojo had started a school and I thought Nick was well respected in the industry, so ARROJO has to be on the same level; I was proven right!
Is there anything that stands out in your mind about your experience here?
The level of professionalism, allowance for the students to explore their creativity, and being taught a solid foundation in hairdressing are what really stands out to me during my time at ARROJO. I came out of the experience a more well rounded and confident hairdresser.
Any advice you can share with current or prospective students?! !
My advice to prospective students is work hard, be patient, be open, and soak up everything you can!
What did you do after graduation, and where are you working now?!
After graduation I found a great boutique salon in Chelsea called Bloom Beauty Lounge and have been there since. I love creating that personal relationship with my clients and helping them feel and look their personal best! Looking back, I think being part of “Class 2” at ARROJO helped give me the push to take on NYC and say,“I got this!”
