The students in Part Time Class 4 promised us a party for their graduation and they delivered with a rollicking good time, called Soul Music.
The ceremony’s musical theme incorporated elements of southern culture, style and food. The students in the class laid out a picnic spread, offering fried chicken, lemonade, and strawberry cake to their guests as they filled the room.
After a year of dedicated study, the two students in the class wowed their audience with a fun-filled presentation set to music from the 1960s. Both students presented individual models, and collaborated on a third to show off the techniques for cut, color, hair styling, makeup, and fashion learned over the last 12 months. The models danced down the runway, snapping in time to the music. It wasn’t long until the audience joined in!
This intimate class allowed for lots of one-on-one time with their educators, and the attention to detail showed in their production.
“Being in a class of two was very rewarding,” says student Elizabeth Taillie. “I felt more focused. I know that I received a prestigious education in a field that I love. I am really looking forward to my future and wherever it takes me.”
ARROJO Cosmetology educator, Pia Vivas, says that her favorite thing about teaching part time students is witnessing their motivation. “This class is no exception. Both students worked full time every day, then came to school and gave 4 more hours of their time for a whole year. That’s a long time, a lot of hard work.”
The attitude that both students brought with them every day was also an inspiration. “When presented with challenges, they kept their minds open and flexible,” says Pia. “What a pleasure it was to teach such hard working, fun and talented students.”
