LINCOLNSHIRE, IL-MODERN SALON Media has named the 2013 class of “Excellence in Education” honorees in its annual program recognizing leadership and best practices among cosmetology schools. ARROJO Cosmetology School of New York, NY was chosen to represent excellence in the categories of School Culture, Advanced Education, Technology and Beauty Changes Lives. MODERN SALON Publisher Steve Reiss announced the honorees during the AACS (American Association of Cosmetology Schools) 2013 convention in Las Vegas.
Hundreds of entries were submitted from cosmetology schools from across North America, in eight categories ranging from marketing to placement to school culture. Honorees were determined based on school size or number of locations, with one overall honoree from all applicants named for each category.
“We are delighted to have our endeavors to raise the standards in the industry recognized and honored in the Modern Salon Excellence in Education Awards in four categories. I am very proud of the teamwork demonstrated daily by our cosmetology team to provide a positive learning environment. The awards and recognition by our peers help to strengthen our actions and share our message,” said Loretta O’Connell, Education Director.
“Based on the volume and caliber of entries received, it is clear there are many wonderful schools doing amazing things to secure a beautiful future for the professional beauty industry,” said Associate Publisher Michele Musgrove. ”We will be showcasing many of the applicants’ stories, accomplishments and best practices in our magazines, web sites and e-letters.”
Sharing stories of innovation, inspiration and collaboration from a diverse group of leading schools is an important part of MODERN SALON’s “Excellence in Education” mission, Musgrove explained. “We want to help spread the word about the exceptional work cosmetology schools are doing to help launch beautiful careers. Small schools, large schools, chain schools and single units of chain schools are all represented. We hope the professional salon industry and their communities will join us in celebrating them.”
